Where Video Stops

Video has a ceiling. You've reached it.

You can learn a lot about breathing from a screen. What the diaphragm does. Nadi Shodhana. How to lengthen an exhale. If you've done Seven Days of Breath, you already have a real practice built entirely from recordings.

Then you hit the wall, and it's a specific wall:

You've never been corrected. Your shoulder lifts on every inhale. Your chin creeps up. You've done it for months and nobody has told you, because a recording can't see you.

Retention scares you — correctly. Kumbhaka is where pranayama gets serious, and it's where the risk is. The failure mode is invisible from the inside.

Kapalabhati is everywhere, and you don't know if it's safe for you. It's contraindicated in more conditions than most people realise, including some you can have without knowing.

The ratio question stopped you. 1:4:2. Or 1:2:2. Or 1:1:2. Confident sources contradicting each other, and no way to tell which is talking to you.

Every one of these needs a person, not a playback button.

What Changes

Two and a half hours from now

BeforeAfter
Practising for months, never corrected
You know exactly what your body does wrong
Avoided retention, or tried it alone and worried
You've done it once, properly, with someone watching
Unsure whether kapalabhati is safe for you
You know — and if it is, you know how to do it
Stuck between contradicting ratios
A written progression, with weeks and a test for each stage

What This Session Is

Four things a recording can't do

Watch you
Tara goes through the room, one person at a time, and tells you what he sees
Screen you
Kapalabhati taught only after we know it's safe for you specifically
Stop you
Retention taught in stages, with someone watching for the signs you can't feel
Give you a protocol
The ratio progression, written down, with a test for when to advance

That's the whole session. Nothing else.

The Part You'll Remember

At the start of the session we practise together — and Tara has his eyes open.

He'll go through the room and tell you what he sees. The shoulder lifting on your inhale. Your chin extending. The elbow held too high in Vishnu mudra. The way you push your belly out instead of letting it release.

Small things. They quietly limit every practice you do, and no recording will ever catch them.

You've possibly never had this. It's also the one thing on this page that cannot be put in a video — which is why it takes the largest block of our time.

How the Time Is Used

One session, five segments

1

Settling and Assessment

25 min

Everyone practises, Tara watches. This is where the habits get named.

2

The Seat and the Diaphragm

30 min

Prop height, chairs, kneeling. Where the breath is being restricted, and what to do about it.

3

Nadi Shodhana in Detail

35 min

Mechanism, method and correction, with practice time and individual feedback.

4

Ratio and the Approach to Retention

30 min

How ratio works, why kumbhaka is taught slowly, and how readiness is assessed from the outside.

5

Your Protocol, and Questions

30 min

Build your own written progression, then open questions until they run out.

One 10-minute break.

Screening

We screen you. Properly.

We teach two practices with genuine contraindications. So registration includes a health screening, and it isn't optional.

Ticking a box doesn't exclude you. It means Tara emails you personally before the session to tell you which segments he's modifying and what you'll do instead — cued clearly enough that you won't feel singled out.

Tell us if you:

If you have a medical condition, please check with your doctor as well. Nothing taught here replaces medical advice.

Who This Workshop Is For

This isn't for everyone

Wanting cathartic, emotional-release breathwork? Different practice, different aims. This isn't it.

Complete beginner? Do Seven Days of Breath first — free, takes a week.

Want to be told breathing fixes everything? It doesn't, and I'd rather say so now.

FAQ

Frequently asked

Do I have to be on camera?

I'll ask you to, and I'll explain why: for two segments my job is to watch you. But it's a request, not a requirement.

I'm a beginner. Will I be lost?

You'll follow everything. You'll get more from it after the free series.

I can't make the live time.

Register anyway — the recording is genuinely useful. But you'll miss the correction, which is the best part.

I've practised for years. Too basic?

The first twenty minutes will be familiar. The retention progression and the ratio protocol usually aren't — that material tends to get taught as warnings rather than as a method.

I teach yoga. Does this count for CE?

Yes. Tara is Yoga Alliance registered and we'll send the certificate afterwards.

Is there a refund?

Yes, up to 48 hours before the session. No form, no questions.

Is this a sales pitch?

No. There's a longer training and I'll mention it for five minutes at the very end, after everything else is done. Ignore it if it's not for you.

Two and a half hours, and someone watching.

That's the whole offer. Not a transformation. Not a breakthrough. Despite the name, not a reset.

Just the parts of pranayama that need a teacher present — taught by someone who'll tell you the truth about what he's seeing, including slow down, you're not ready for that yet.
